There’s something contagious about confidence — and when you step into Lauriebelles, you feel it. What began as a side hustle in a basement has grown into a full-fledged fashion destination in Downtown Sioux Falls. Owner Laurie Karlson launched Lauriebelles in 2013 after a career in teaching, seeking a more flexible path while raising her young kids. Just a year later, she was in her first storefront, and things haven’t slowed down since. Now nearly 12 years in, Lauriebelles has become known for its curated selection of clothing, accessories, and shoes — but also for something harder to define: helping women feel like themselves again. Laurie puts it best: “Women tend to put themselves last and can get lost in the hustle and bustle of life — especially if they're moms! We love to help them find or boost their confidence through outfits that make them feel amazing.” Their store delivers on that promise, with a friendly team that takes the guesswork out of putting outfits together and makes shopping easy, fun, and pressure-free. And during Spring Fling (April 12–19), Lauriebelles is pulling out all the stops. One of the biggest hits this season is their BYOH (Build Your Own Hat) Bar, where customers can choose from a variety of patches to create custom-designed canvas trucker hats. Staff will press the patches on-site for a personalized, on-trend accessory you won’t find anywhere else. They’re also hosting a Spring Fling Event on Thursday, April 17 from 4–7 p.m., with 25% off storewide, snacks, refreshments, and free spring totes filled with goodies for the first 15 shoppers who make a purchase. It’s a great excuse to celebrate the season and refresh your wardrobe with some spring arrivals. When she’s not running Lauriebelles, Laurie’s ideal downtown day involves walking, shopping, grabbing drinks and apps, and ending the evening with a show at the Pavilion or a film at the State Theater. Some of her favorite local spots include Oshima Sushi, Josiah’s, Carpenter Bar, Highball, Crave, Simply Perfect — and yes, she included Lauriebelles too (rightfully so). Laurie says the best part of Spring Fling is when Downtown retailers team up for events like this. “DTSF is wonderful all days, but it is so fun when retailers come together,” she says. “Plus, spring time is always a great time to get out and shop.” Whether you're local or just in town for the weekend, Lauriebelles is a can’t-miss stop for anyone looking to add something fun and confidence-boosting to their closet this season. -- Lauriebelles Spring Fling Highlights:

Wellness doesn’t have to feel clinical — and at Vital Flow Infusions, it absolutely doesn’t. Opened in early 2023 and newly expanded with an IV Hydration Lounge on Main Avenue in 2024, this locally owned Downtown Sioux Falls business is reimagining what personal care looks like. Whether you’re recovering from a race, prepping for a big event, or just trying to survive another South Dakota season, their mission is simple: help people feel better, faster. Vital Flow was founded by Dr. Holli Charbonneau, MD, an ER physician who saw the power of IV therapy firsthand. What began as a tool for medical emergencies has become a popular, proactive approach to everyday wellness — and Vital Flow delivers that care in a setting that’s more spa than hospital. Heated massage chairs, cozy private rooms, and even a bar lounge serving wine or beer make this a space where people come to unwind while they recover. Services include IV drips, vitamin injections, and weight loss support — all personalized to your goals. From energy and immunity to hydration and beauty support, they’ve got a menu designed for every kind of recharge. And during Spring Fling (April 12–19), they’re offering two exclusive promotions:
Jared Pomranky, Vital Flow’s COO, says their ideal Downtown day starts with coffee at Josiah’s, a morning IV drip session, some relaxed shopping on Phillips, and wraps up with dinner at Parker’s. They’re also big fans of CH Patisserie, The Source, The Spice and Tea Exchange — and yes, they gave a shoutout to 605 Running Co. too (thank you, friends). Like many of the businesses participating in Spring Fling, Vital Flow is here to add something unique to our Downtown landscape. They’re helping people feel good — and that’s something worth celebrating. -- Vital Flow Infusions [IV Hydration Lounge – Main Ave Location] Website: www.VitalFlowInfusions.com Phone: (605) 906-1806 Spring Fling Specials:
Walking into Terra Shepherd Boutique & Apothecary is a bit like walking into a future you’d want to live in — one where style and sustainability aren’t in conflict, but work together in thoughtful harmony. Sara Jamison opened Terra Shepherd nearly six years ago with a simple but powerful goal: make it easier to shop fair trade and sustainable goods right here in Sioux Falls. Inspired by her then one-year-old son, she decided to go all-in, built a business plan, secured an SBA loan, and bet on herself — and the result is a store that has quietly become one of the most intentional and inspiring shopping destinations Downtown. For anyone who’s ever felt overwhelmed trying to make more ethical purchasing choices, Sara and her team offer something truly rare: clarity. Terra Shepherd simplifies the process of shopping sustainably by curating brands that align with conscious values — whether you’re just beginning to explore sustainable fashion or have been on the journey for years. Inside, you’ll find clothing, accessories, home goods, toiletries, skincare, and gifts from over 150 small brands and makers — most of which you won’t find anywhere else in South Dakota. Sara describes the in-store experience as inclusive and personalized, with a focus on meeting people where they are — not where they “should” be. During Spring Fling (April 12–19), Terra Shepherd is hosting a unique pop-up: the Forever Flower Market, created in partnership with one of their fair trade brands. Shoppers can build their own custom bouquets made of handmade silk paper and upcycled sari fabric flowers — a meaningful and lasting gift for spring birthdays, graduations, baby showers, Mother’s Day, or simply just because. When asked what she's most excited about for Spring Fling, Sara shared something that hits close to home: “We all need an infusion of hope right now, and this feels like a perfect way to do that.” That kind of grounded optimism sums up a lot of what Terra Shepherd is about — not just selling better products, but creating a better kind of retail. If you're building your own perfect Downtown day, Sara recommends starting with coffee and brunch, strolling to your favorite local shops, walking the River Greenway, then grabbing some takeout to wrap it all up at home. Her local go-to’s include The Breaks, M.B. Haskett, Bread & Circus, Great Outdoor Store, Zandbroz, and Plum’s — a mix of flavor, comfort, and connection. Stop by during Spring Fling and build your own bouquet, discover something new, or just have a good conversation about how we can all do business — and life — a little more intentionally. -- Terra Shepherd Boutique & Apothecary 218 S Phillips Ave Sioux Falls, SD 57104 Now featuring: Forever Flower Market (April 12–19) There’s something electric about walking into a brand-new creative space — especially when the person who opened it is both the owner and an artist. That’s the story behind Serendipity Studio Gallery, one of Downtown Sioux Falls’ newest additions, founded by photographer Jason Pfitzer. Jason opened the gallery in November 2023 with a dual purpose: to share his own photographic work and to give other artists a place to showcase theirs. From the start, the mission has been about more than just walls and frames — it’s about creating a platform for fresh voices and emerging talent, and giving the community a place to experience art that feels personal, unexpected, and alive. Right now, the gallery is home to a new exhibition titled “The Living Canvas,” a collection that reflects the gallery’s evolving nature and commitment to keeping things fresh. Whether you’re a longtime art lover or just starting to explore local culture, it’s the kind of place that invites you to slow down and look closer. When asked what drives him, Jason keeps it simple: like many small business owners, he has a dream. “We enjoy sharing the artwork,” he says, “and meeting the customers who appreciate the work.” There’s a genuine passion in that — not just for art, but for the people who come through the door and connect with it. Though the gallery is still young, it’s already a vibrant piece of the Downtown fabric. Jason describes his ideal downtown day as “busy with a sense of electricity” — and it’s clear he’s working to contribute to that energy. His own go-to spots include Zandbroz, Lucky’s, Phillips Avenue Diner, and Full Circle Book Co-op — a solid mix of creative, classic, and community-driven. As part of Spring Fling (April 12–19), Serendipity Studio Gallery will be welcoming new visitors into the space and sharing its latest exhibit. There aren’t any formal promotions — just an open door, compelling art, and a chance to support something new and meaningful in the heart of Downtown. If you haven’t yet explored Serendipity Studio Gallery, now’s the perfect time to do it. Spring Fling is about discovery, connection, and celebrating the spirit of local business. This space checks all those boxes — and then some. -- Serendipity Studio Gallery and Gifts 230 S Phillips Ave, 2nd Floor Sioux Falls, SD 57104 Phone: 605-310-5771 Now showing: The Living Canvas One of my favorite things about Downtown Sioux Falls is that it’s full of people who aren’t afraid to build something from scratch — and then keep building, year after year. Stephanie Wilde is one of those people. Say Anything... Jewelry started back in 2009 on her kitchen counter. After breaking her foot and being unable to work her full-time serving job, Stephanie used the downtime to teach herself how to make handstamped jewelry. There were no YouTube tutorials back then — just curiosity, trial and error, and persistence. A year later, she was able to quit her job. By 2011, she opened her first retail location in Uptown, and in 2015, she moved to her current home at 225 S. Phillips Ave. Today, Say Anything... Jewelry is best known for its custom keepsake pieces. Stephanie and her team create jewelry from your loved one’s handwriting, fingerprints, drawings, or even your pet’s paw prints. These are heartfelt, handmade items created right here in Sioux Falls — and they’re made to last a lifetime. They also offer walk-in permanent jewelry services during regular business hours: Tuesday through Friday 10–5:30 and Saturdays 10–3. I love this quote from Stephanie: “We will make everything as close to perfect as something handmade can be. That is my commitment to my clients.” After 16 years in business, that’s the kind of care and consistency that has helped her become a Downtown staple. When asked about her perfect Downtown day, Stephanie paints a picture I think many of us can get behind — brunch, the Farmer’s Market, a walk through 8th & Railroad, shopping along Phillips, happy hour at The Treasury, dinner at Parker’s, and maybe a musical or movie to close out the night. Her list of Downtown favorites is long and full of love for her fellow business owners — from M.B. Haskett and Josiah’s, to Gist, CH Patisserie, Juniper Apothecary, and Terra Shepherd. She’s not just a supporter of Downtown — she’s an ambassador, always sending visitors off with recommendations and tips to explore all the best spots. For Spring Fling (April 12–19), Say Anything... Jewelry will be offering walk-in permanent jewelry appointments all week long. Plus, shoppers will receive a free gift and a free gift card with any purchase. That’s on top of being entered to win a $25 gift card in the Spring Fling giveaway. As Stephanie put it, “The community aspect of Downtown businesses is so amazing. We have so many unique offerings and people in our shops. I know that the shop owners are all passionate about what they do and offer. We are all cheering each other on and supporting one another.” Stop in, say hello, and support one of the many passionate small business owners making Downtown Sioux Falls a place worth exploring — one handmade piece at a time. -- Say Anything...
