Welcome to Sioux Falls

Whether you are a local in need of a change of pace or a visitor to Sioux Falls, this is your guide to finding new and fun places to run in and near Sioux Falls.

Leaders Park
This park is a heavily wooded area with some singletrack trails carved into it by the Falls Area Single Track club.  The trails are packed dirt with some loose gravel areas as well.  There are two wooden bridges and a few other obstacles.  The trails are fairly hilly for the area and are rarely truly flat.  There are 3 laps in this park of 1.6, .9, and .6 miles.  These trails were originally designed for mountain bikers so please be aware of them and use the trails in a clockwise direction.

How to get there: The park is located near the intersection of E 6th St and I-229.  From downtown, head East on 6th and the park will be on your left just before 229.  From 229, exit south of the park onto 10th St.  Go East to the stoplight (Cleveland Ave) and go North to 6th St.  Go over 229 and the park will be on your right.  Park near the trail map.
Great Bear Recreation Area
Great Bear is a ski area during the winter so there are some serious hills here.  These trails are mostly packed dirt with some gravel and some grass mixed in.  Generally, they are wider doubletrack trails and are well maintained.  There are 5-6 miles of unique trails here and they can be combined into a number of interesting loops to make a solid long run.

How to get there: The Rec area is located between Sioux Falls and Brandon on Rice St.  From I-229, take the Rice St exit to the east and the park will be on your right in 2.5 miles.  Park near the Chalet.  There is a small kiosk with a trail map there.
Good Earth State Park
Good Earth is a new state park located just Southeast of Sioux Falls.  There is a mix of singletrack, doubletrack, and gravel trails.  The park is located on the Big Sioux River so you will run up and down the river bluffs once per lap around the park.  There is a park entry fee that can be purchased on site.

How to get there: From anywhere in Sioux Falls, head East until you run into SD Highway 11.  Take that South.  Follow the signs from there which will have you take this route:  Go East on 69th/102 then South on 135/480th.  Take a left onto 85th and follow that 1 mile into the park.
The Outdoor Campus/Sertoma Park
Located in Sioux Falls at 4500 S Oxbow Ave, Sioux Falls, SD 57106 the Outdoor Campus is a fantastic resource for any outdoor enthusiast. Featuring wide, flat trails perfect for beginner to expert runners given the terrain. If you choose to run here please be respectful to any outdoor education classes that might be going on during any given day.
Big Sioux Recreation Area
Big Sioux Recreation Area is located just South of Brandon, about 10 miles East of Sioux Falls.  There is a mix of surfaces here including; paved bike trail, dirt double track, some single track and some grass.  There are about 6 miles of trails here.  Be sure to pick up a trail map at the entrance to experience all that Big Sioux has to offer.  It is in the SD State Park system so there is a $4 per person or $6 per car entry fee if you don’t have a season pass.

How to get there: Take E 10th/SD 42 East out of Sioux Falls.  Take a right on 478th/Powder House Rd.  Take a right on Madison St/142.  Go left (north) on SD 11 and follow signs into park on the South side of Brandon.

Sioux Falls Bike Trail
The Sioux Falls Bike Trail is a 20+ mile paved path around the city of Sioux Falls.  It mostly runs near the Big Sioux River so it is pretty flat with just a few exceptions.  There are many access points including right behind our store.  The path passes through many scenic parts of the city including many parks.

How to get there:  Pick your access point from the map and go there.  You can also park right behind our store because some of the most scenic parts of the bike trail are a short run away.
