The Sioux Falls Skedaddle is the place to be this spring. Not only is our event first time runner friendly, we will also have a blazing fast elite field of runners. 605 Running Company and the Sioux Falls Skedaddle are proud to welcome Dan Laplante to the 2022 Sioux Falls Skedaddle Half Marathon!
Career Highlights: 2021 Maple Grove Half Marathon Champion: 1:13:24 2021 Grandma's Marathon: Finisher 2:31:27 2018 Minnesota Voyageur 50 Mile: 7:59:10 Like many of us who got a later start at running, Dan didn't compete in high school or college. However, once he found the passion it clearly stuck - he has completed over 120 marathon or ultramarathon distance races! With that type of resume, it's a privilege to welcome Dan LaPlante to our Skedaddle Elite Athlete Field. We are excited to share the city of Sioux Falls and experience the race week together. Instagram: @lapl0047 There’s more than one way to strengthen your body. Running is one of them, but running isn’t the only thing out there. In fact the team here at 605 Running Company has learned first hand that to be successful runners we need to develop holistic strength. Our clients at 605 Running Company have clued us into some of the best gym communities and studios in the region founded specifically to help their clients and customers become stronger and healthier. So maybe you're training for a tough race, or you really want to be able to do a successful pull up, or maybe that gallon of milk at the grocery store is feeling heavier than it has any right to. Regardless of the reason, below you’ll find an array of Sioux Falls’ fitness establishments. So get ready to live out your dreams. Forged strength2601 S Minnesota Ave, Sioux Falls, SD 57105 605-728-4227 [email protected] Forged Strength is a fitness studio that believes in training healthy and training to be strong. Strength is the first thing they focus on because being strong allows you to be versatile in your everyday life. It allows you to take on hard things and conquer them. Some people say their equipment is “old fashioned”, using mostly free weights, dumb bells, kettle bells, bodyweight work, and sleds, but what they really are is time-tested, allowing for maximum flexibility as they design each workout to your specific needs. The versatility provides a way for each individual to train specifically how they need. And hey, the equipment can’t be that old-fashioned if it still works. Strength training is the number one focus at Forged Strength. For runners, having that boosted muscle strength will be beyond noticeable. You’re going to feel better, run cleaner, and perform stronger. Forged Strength takes a different approach to runners. Runners like being treated like athletes. Often they get stuck in this subset and are never truly acknowledged for their abilities outside of “runner” which is all well and good but being a runner is more than just running. When you train a healthy human being the athlete shows up. What the human body needs is to be strong and resilient so that runners, and other athletes, can enjoy their sport. Once such things are acknowledged and pursued, those runners can become the vibrant athlete they always had the potential to be. Staying connected to the community is essential for any business and Forged Strength utilizes word of mouth and social media to do it. In the eight years they’ve been open, a few hundred people have cycled through the studio. None of that would have been possible if not for the good results and life-changing experiences people were having and subsequently telling friends and family about it. Social media is also used to stay connected to other gyms, coaches, and trainers in the area, as they all work together to create the best experience for their customers. Forged Strength truly appreciates the people of Sioux Falls and South Dakota, respecting their mind set, work ethic, and stoicism. Not to mention, their remarkable ability to hunker down through the storms and get things done. Not any certain type of training is essential for everyone and Forged Strength is going to be there when you’re ready for them. coast to coast fitness and yogaInfrared fitness, yoga, strength training, kickboxing, group training, need we go on? Not only do they have killer workouts, they are deeply involved in the Sioux Falls community, working with the humane society and other organizations to better the city. The studio has a strong connection with Sioux Falls, with the manager remarking her respect not only for Sioux Falls but for South Dakota and its ability to keep moving forward despite countless adversities. Core strength is something runners often lay to the wayside in their training. We’re usually more concerned with just getting all our miles in. We do some crunches, planks, and whatnot but to have a truly balanced body, your core should take some of that spotlight. With the slow, measured movements used during workouts at Solid Core your muscles will get plenty of work out time. Your core isn’t the only thing Solid Core strengthens; each session focuses on specific muscle groups of the body such as quads, shoulders, inner thighs, and more. There’s a mind and body connection that occurs during each session. It slows you down and allows you to think about the muscles you’re using. The low impact of these workouts could serve as a great supplement to your weekly running routine. It’s important to have equal strength throughout the body to unleash your full potential. Now we're not going to beat around the bush here, you will sweat a lot and it'll hurt a lot. But, it’ll be the best sweat sweetened pain you’ll ever feel, and we mean that in the best way possible. Quite simply, Solid Core is a different way to train. With mindfulness and endurance at the forefront of each session, you’ll walk away from each workout feeling more in control (and sweaty) than ever. Frontier Climbing and Fitness5045 Grant St, Sioux Falls, SD 57110 605-305-4500 [email protected] Frontier Climbing and Fitness is the place to go when looking for a killer upper body workout. As runners we often work all the same muscles during our daily training, but it’s always good to spice things up. You can do that with a visit to Frontier Climbing. Rock climbing is a niche sport and it’s been quite the change to have a haven and meeting place for these gravity defiers right here in Sioux Falls. Frontier Climbing has grown the community and created a place where local rock climbers can come together and do what they love to do. This fantastic facility features every exercise equipment you could need from treadmills to squat racks, a cross fit studio to free weights and any type of machine out there. Not to mention the sky high rock climbing walls reaching up to forty-five feet. Can’t beat that (but you can climb it). Frontier Climbing has a host of runners within its ranks that climb to get in a different kind of workout. Mixing climbing into your training can break up the routine and give your body that much needed rest from the high impact of running. Climbing can help running and running can help climbing; both strengthen your body in a lot of good ways. Climbing is like running, you have to set a pace. You have to know when to slow down and when to take a break, especially when you’re forty-five feet in the air. With the nearest facility rivaling it being located in Minneapolis, MN it was a much needed addition to our community. orangetheory fitness605-274-7700 419 W. 85th St. Sioux Falls, SD 57108 Currently located in southern Sioux Falls on 85th street. They’ve got friendly coaches with easy to fit in your schedule work out times. Their workout efforts are based solely on heart rate. The goal of each workout is to get your heart rate into zones 4 and 5 (orange and red zone) in order to reach the “after burn” effect which increases your metabolic rate for up to 24 hours. Each workout of each day of the year is different with energetic coaches there to lead every one. The daily workouts are the same across the country so you don’t need to miss out on your fitness training even while traveling, which can come as a relief. With workouts utilizing flex treadmills, rowing machines, low-medium weights, and TRX bands, you’ll leave every session knowing each part of your body was strengthened.
