My name is Grant and I wear toe socks. It feels good to finally admit that. I’ve always had my preconceptions about toe socks. They look funny. They’ll feel weird between my toes. They’re pointless. I even mocked Jase (One of our sales associates at the store) for wearing them. For my entire running career, I’ve struggled with hammer toe (a deformity in your toe that causes the toe to bend or curl downward instead of pointing forward) and Morton’s toe (second toe is longer than the big toe) and it has led to a constant struggle with keeping toe nails, toe pain, and my quest for the most beautiful toes in my family. So with training for my first marathon in October (Chicago) and in desperate need to resolve the constant pain I had in my toes from the pounding my toe nails took when running, I decided to try a pair of Injinji toe socks from the store and my life hasn’t been the same since then. A couple of days after starting to wear the socks, my toes stopped hurting after runs. My toenails stopped turning purple. And most importantly, I didn’t even realize I had toe socks on when I was running. It felt like a normal pair of socks. Not only do the socks allow for my longer second toe to be able stretch freely (a problem not remedied by any other pair of running socks), but it has helped keep my toes from having as bad of a downward curl as I run. This comes from each toe having a place in the sock and having extra pressure on each toe to pull the toe slightly more up. We’ve just received a fresh order of new Injinji socks down at 605 Running Co., so come check them out. I highly recommend getting a pair to try out if you’ve gone through some of the same struggles I have or just want to try something new with your sock choice. The only problem that I have now with the Injinji socks is that they can’t get through the laundry fast enough! Happy Running, Grant Watley Store Owner, Director of Private Coaching 605 Running Co.
